Why is it that people are reading this blog after so long?

I am not google-worthy.

However, the WP interface has been pleasantly enhanced since my last visit.  Sweet.

Hawksley Workman concert in Hfx

I have just been to the HW concert in Halifax. Real nice. Bonzer.

Here are some folks who I can only aspire to. Folks with hair of such prodigious proportions, busters of astonishing programming chops. The Programmer Dress Code

Now onto the self-made Steven Seagal marathon… (I can’t wait for Cockpuncher!)

Moving?

I have been wondering how I should go about preparing to move.  We intend to move to Fredericton in the summer, but I usually do very little preparation for such things and this time I want to be more prepared.  Now, I’m not talking about the physical act of selling our house or actually moving our things, I’m talking more about getting mentally prepared.  I intend to build a mental image of how my life will be when I am living there, and to do that I would like to conceive of scenarios substantiated by reality.  Therefore, I will take a survey of my life:  the things I do, the things I no longer want to do and the things that I would like to do but don’t seem to.  This resulting simulation of my (more ideal) life will then be validated against the facilities and amenities in Fredericton.  Any delta will reveal what I ought to get stressed about, and I can then set about doing so with some solid evidence to support it.

It must have a natural cause.  It seems to have been put together so elegantly, that no person might have had more than a passing influence.  Answering the question of whether it is divine is a judgment call, one that will be hard to justify.  Not because that judgment is wrong or right, but because it steps beyond what is knowable and into belief.  One can find many imperfections; upon many the deeper one looks.  It being so complex that any coarse action or disagreeable result will be seen out of context, so separate from its purpose, that it would be difficult to give it credit.

Freedom of Will is clear, but to be following the folly of so many before makes its value questionable.  It appears a waste to heave so much potential out into the world, only to require much of it to be untapped.  Not wasted though, but in reserve, for when it is needed.  The efficiency of churning out worker-humans in great numbers to serve the important caste is perhaps desirable, but perhaps it is what we already have.  Perhaps this potential is already cheap, or perhaps there really isn’t much potential out there.

We judge miscellany of goings on and setbacks all too harshly.  Do something useful sometimes, and don’t begrudge the necessities.
